LIBERTY'S LIGHT
"Humanity Behind the Bars"
Our Mission
At Liberty's Light, we fervently advocate for a prison system that both upholds and values dignity and compassion. We believe a system grounded in these principles naturally leads to rehabilitation and successful societal reintegration. Our commitment extends beyond the walls of incarceration to challenge and transform societal perceptions of those imprisoned. Through our efforts, we aim to ensure essential rights and services such as regular family access, proper nutritional standards, the elimination of solitary confinement, enhanced communication facilities, and accessible medical treatments. Our ultimate goal is to foster a future where the incarcerated are not seen as outcasts but as integral members of our community, deserving of respect and a genuine opportunity for a new beginning.
Goals
- Establish Family Access Rights: Ensure regular, humane, and accessible contact between inmates and their families.
- Improve Nutritional Standards: Advocate for policies ensuring nutritious meals in prisons.
- Eliminate Solitary Confinement: Work towards abolishing solitary confinement and promoting alternative disciplinary practices.
- Enhance Job Training Programs: Encourage support programs that provide effective job training and preparation for reintegration into society.
- Upgrade Medical and Communication Facilities: Improve the quality of medical care and communication facilities in prisons, ensuring they meet basic human rights standards.
The Core Values
- Human Dignity: Upholding the inherent worth of every individual, affirming their right to humane treatment.
- Compassion: Demonstrating empathy and understanding for incarcerated individuals and their families.
- Rehabilitation and Reintegration: Fostering effective pathways for inmates to rejoin society as productive citizens.
- Transparency and Accountability: Ensuring honesty and integrity in all our endeavors and advocating for the same in the criminal justice system.
- Community Engagement: Collaborating with communities, policymakers, and stakeholders for broader impact and change.
